               Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru

About him

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was born 14 November 1889 in Allahabad. His father Moti Lal Nehru and mother swarup rani Nehru.  

Education

Jawaharlal Nehru was educated in England at Harrow school and Trinity College Cambridge and trained in the law at the Inner temples.

Interests in politics

 After becoming a barrister he returned to India and gradually began to take a interest in national politics. He joined the Indian National Congress . And became Congress president in 1929.

Role of Jawaharlal Nehru's family in politics

 Jawaharlal Nehru's only child, Indira , served as indian prime minister from 1996 to 1997. And from 1980 to 1984 when she was assassinated. Her son, Rajiv Gandhi, served as prime minister of India from 1984 to 1989, when he was also assassinated.

National children's day ( bal diwas)

Across the country , 14 of November is celebrated as children's day . It is celebrated to pay the tribute to the India's first prime minister pandit Jawaharlal Nehru .

Awards

In 1955 , Jawaharlal Nehru was awarded the Bharat Ratna . India's Highest civilian honour.


Death

Nehru suffered a serious stock in early 1964.

From 23 to 26 may  he may went to Dehradun for short rest . Early morning at 6:25 fell unconscious and soon died without having regained consciousness.
